Preconceived Notions of a 3 year old!

Lookin' good on Christmas Eve Morn
Chill'n with Dad, watching Christmas movies
Checking out what Santa left!

I'm ready to take down the decorations and tree and get that little bit of extra space back... McKay is not so ready.

We had a great Christmas in Tucson and then a day with Seth's parents in Phoenix. The girls got more than they could have ever imagined.

We had to convince McKay that we didn't need to take our tree with us to Tucson. She really fought that one. She thought Christmas wouldn't be Christmas if we didn't have our tree with us. We finally had to tell her that we could either take the tree or the presents and she gave in. Then on Christmas eve she started talking about having to put 2 of her teeth under the pillow in order for Santa to come and leave presents. Apparently she was having a bit of Santa/Tooth Fairy confusion. That one wasn't too hard to sort out and she was fine with not having to lose two teeth.

So today I tell her we're going to take the tree down this weekend and she bursts into tears. "No mom, we can't take it down until its Christmas!" I explained that we already had Christmas just look around at the apartment littered with new toys with no place to go. She literally started crying "mom its not Christmas until we see real snow and we haven't seen real snow yet!" Oh boy! This could be a problem. I felt so bad. I'm not sure where she gets all these ideas but they are so real to her and there's no changing her mind. I thought, "well I guess we'll deal with this on Saturday when I take that tree down." Seth always a softy for his girls said "well I guess the tree stays up until we take them to see snow." What a good dad. It better be soon, I need that spot for my shoe basket.

The Power of Persuasion

Learning early on how to get what you want....

(I told the girls if they wanted to watch a movie they had to agree on one.)

McKay: I want Frosty!

Kimball: No Sleeping Beauty!

McKay: Lets watch frosty (kneeling down to get on Kimball's level)

Kimball: No I want sleeping beauty!

McKay: But its Christmas time, we're supposed to be getting ready for Christmas

Kimball: I want sleeping beauty

McKay: How 'bout we just watch Frosty for a little bit and then we can watch sleeping beauty

Kimball: Ok!!!

Microwave Love

I can't live without a microwave. How sad is that? Our microwave quit on us this weekend and I thought, "oh well, no big deal. We'll get a new one sooner or later." Little did I know! I now realize that there are probably 10 other appliances I could do without before my microwave. Not only is it quick and convenient but its virtually mess free. I don't have time to wash a pot every time Seth wants a hot chocolate or the girls want spaghettios. I don't have the organizational skills to remember to pull the meat out of the freezer 4 hours in advance to allow for thawing.

So the search is on... I need a microwave but I'm being swayed by colors and designs rather than functionality. I want red... why?, who knows but I do. I haven't told Seth this yet but I'm sure if I relate it to the Ute Crimson Red it won't be a problem. So besides color what else should I look for in a microwave?

Hey Mom, take our picture!

My girls are always wanting me to take their picture, so why in the heck can't they figure out how to look at the camera????

My Little Pony Mystery

Can anyone explain to me why My Little Ponies have one magnetic hoof? McKay discovered this today and I'm sure there is some wonderful explination for it that everyone is aware of but me... so fill me in.
This is evidence of the discovery, ponies on the fridge....

Walter

I dated a guy in high school named Walter... what a name. He went by Walt but still, how nerdy can you get, he wasn't, but it's hard to get past the name. I was always embarrassed to tell people my boyfriend's name. It just seemed so dorky and I could imagine the image that popped in their heads when I said it.

Seth on the other hand is a pretty cool name and I've always thought that I was married to a pretty cool guy. Nothing too nerdy about him or his name. So this week when he went to the doctor to be tested for asthma and allergies I didn't think it would change my views of his coolness.

We already knew he had pet allergies (he comes close to dying everytime we visit my parents' dog inhabited house) but I had no idea how much he resembled the fiance in Sleepless in Seattle, who's name by the way is Walter! After pricking his back with 49 different allergens, Seth swelled up like Martin Short in Pure Luck. Here is Seth's list of allergens:

Mountain cedar
fremont cottonwood
orchard grass
box elder
arizona ash
olive
mulberry
bermuda
yellow dock
june grass
chinese elm
cypress
cultivated oats
mesquite tree
ponderosa pine
english plantain
kochia
rabbit bush
desert ragweed
lens scale
spiny pigweed
wormseed goosefoot
shadescale
lambs quarter
mugwort sagebrush
common sagebrush
western ragweed
short ragweed
russian thistle
careless weed
aspergillus fumigatus
caldosporium

penicillium notatum
blattella germancia
feather mix (goose, chick, duck)
cat dander/hair
dog dander/hair
horse dander/hair
guinea pig hair
histamine

So now I'm trying to deal with the fact that I'm married to a nerd. I love him just the same but I think it may say something about me. Maybe I'm nerdier than I think I am. If I have to be a nerd or if my husband has to be one I just wish we were those smart nerds that made lots and lots of money and couldn't care less if people thought we were nerds because we could afford really expensive pocket protectors and calculators. But we're not those nerds. We're the nerds who have to readjust our budget to account for new prescription expenses! Good thing I love my hubby so much. I just need help adjusting to my new found nerdiness.
