Our Big Step.

Seth and I are taking the plunge. Is that how that phrase goes? It looks funny written out. So what are we plunging into, home ownership. Eeeek. I mean, Yippee. I think. It's much more nerve racking than I would have expected. We have been married 6 years but just haven't been ready to do it yet so here goes. Since we have no experience all of your wisdom and advice is welcome. Not that we'll listen to it or believe you but I'll read it and ponder it at very least.

So here is my very short list of requirements as we begin our search:
  1. A DISHWASHER!! We've lived without one for over a year and I am done. Done. Done. I want something else doing the scrubbing. And no more drying dishes taking up my limited counter space.
  2. More space than we have now. Not too hard. The house we're in now is a measly 1060 sq. ft. I would like 4 bedrooms but I can deal with 3 if the rooms are just a tad bigger than most people's walk-in closet.
  3. No Pool. I think. Or maybe a pool. No wait, no pool. Oh but it's so nice having one. Oh but wait someone else maintains and pays for the maintenance of our pool So no pool. Right?
  4. Close to Seth's work. Which means in our price range we're staying right here in our neighborhood. Which is just fine because we just found out McKay got into this great school just a couple miles down the street. (meaning our in-district transfer was accepted)

So let me have it. Tell me what I need to know. The search begins this weekend as soon as Seth gets back from #2 of his 4 consecutive business trips.

I just deleted a post about feeling guilty because I didn't LOVE going to the zoo with my kids yesterday. Then I went to post a few pictures and saw this....

I still feel a little sad that I didn't walk away from the day feeling like a really great mom who had just spent a wonderful fun day with my perfect children. But looking at this picture I refuse to let myself feel guilty. They had fun. They loved pretty much every minute of it. And really it's not about me. It was about them. Someday, I will have a spare day here or there where I can do "me" things and I'm sure it will be fun. But I'm also quite sure that I will really miss this.

Ok quickly quickly so I can move on to my mind's current preoccupation...
The Girly Girls' March Madness Bracket Update:
  • Tied for 1st Place: Denise and Sarah
  • Tied for 3rd Place: Kiana and Jenna
I'm still working on a really great prize (which basically means I haven't gotten around to it yet but I will.)

Ok so here's what I just did. I went to Joann's and found some great fabric (ok it wasn't amazing fabric but for the cheapskate novice that I am I think its pretty great.) And I bought it. 5 different fabrics. Coordinating/matching. 40 some dollars. (shhh don't tell Seth) Really cute. Full of "beautiful quilt" potential. I just have one little problem. I have no plan. No thought of how to use these great fabrics to make a "beautiful quilt." So there they sit. I keep staring at them thinking if I look long enough and really concentrate then maybe I'll have a glorious vision of how they should all fit together. Crap. I'm pretty sure this isn't the correct process for quilt making. I'll post some pictures of the fabric soon. Then you can all oooh and aaahhh and tell me how beautiful it will be once I figure out what to do with it.

Oh and isn't my new blog background perfectly boring... I know it's pretty sad but it makes spicing up the actual posts so much easier. And I'm all about simplicity (actually I'm not, I'm the master of making things more difficult than they should be so maybe this is a start towards a new and simpler me.)

Here's my fabric... now tell me what to do with it!!!

Bunch of Sickos

My house should be quarantined. It's ridiculous. Starting 2 weeks ago and still going strong. And Kimball and I haven't even gotten it yet so it could last for another 2 weeks. I'm done with it. Done with all the whining and crying with no way to "make it better." Done with snotty noses and coughing all hours of the night. Done with babies gagging on phlegm and puking on me. Done with my dear husband being home sick. (Don't get me wrong I like having him home but home sick is no fun.) Seth doesn't get sick very often but man when he does he goes all out. Strep and Bronchitis, oh and did I mention throwing up. This place is toxic. Anybody have a 10 gallon bottle of hand sanitizer?

Bracket Time Girls!!!

OK Ladies it's time. March Madness Time!! I know you're all about to quit reading because you know I'm going to start talking sports and those of you who are still reading are only doing so because you don't know what March Madness is... It's ok, you don't need to be a sports fanatic to play along. You all know I'm a bit of a sports freak (which is only considered freakish because I am female.)

So here's the deal, March Madness is another name for the NCAA College Basketball Tournament. And there are 64 teams to start out. Over the next 3 weeks it will be whittled down to just 2 and then the champs.

So who wants to play along? No betting, no putting money in, just filling out your bracket and getting a PRIZE! Yep, that's right, I'm bribing you with a prize. And I promise it will not be sports related. Something girly and fun, I'm just not sure what yet. I may even throw in a second and third place prize if I can "convince" enough of you to play along.

So if you want to play send me your email address or leave a comment and I will send you an invite. All you have to do is fill out the bracket online and watch to see if the teams you pick win. Or don't watch, but tell your husbands/significant others that you filled out a bracket, I promise they'll be impressed.

I'm kind of making this up as I go along so if you have questions let me know. I think we are going to make this a "girls only" thing as to not feel intimidated by the "men's overwhelming knowledge" (wink, wink.)

By the way Utah, BYU, ASU and UofA are all in the tournament so there's a little something for everyone!

Ahorita Regreso

Bloggers Block. I think that must be what I have. Or I'm addicted to facebook. Or maybe I'm just lazy. Perhaps it's all of the above. But for whatever reason I am at this time incapable of coming up with anything worth posting. Oh and I've been waiting for my usb cord that connects my camera to my computer to magically fix itself. Surprisingly that hasn't happened yet. So for now I will just let you all know that I haven't given up on blogging all together... (I'm sure that you have all just been on the pins and needles wondering why I haven't posted.... at least that's what I tell myself, my own little positive self-talk session in my head.)

Coming soon... (as soon as I can get the pictures uploaded) A Walk Down Memory Lane in the Freezing Cold.

See Ya...

I'm out of here. Gone for 5 whole days. Will you miss me? Seth might since he'll be here with the girls by himself. It should be interesting. I'm only slightly worried about taking my Arizona thinned out blood and my flip-flops to Washington in March. I'll be OK, right?
