Happy Camping!!!

We finally did what we've been talking about for a year, we took the girls camping. Now I know why we were just talking about it before. Maybe we should have talked about it for another year or so! No it wasn't all bad. Just from 8 pm 'til about 4 am, other than it was a lot of fun. Here's my list of do's and don'ts for camping with toddlers:

• Don't forget to take your 3 year old potty before 3:30 am at which point its really too late.


• Don't think that a 2 year old can settle down and go to sleep when there is a blow-up mattress to jump on.


• Do invest in some sort of heating apparatus if you're camping where the temp gets below 40 degrees.


• Don't go into it thinking you will get more than a couple hours of sleep.


• Do bring more to do than stare at the campfire... McKay kept asking "why are we doing this?"
  
• Don't assume that you're toddlers will know how to share a queen size mattress... they won't!


• Do pay a babysitter to come with you so they can sleep in a tent with your children, preferably 100-150 feet from your tent.


• Don't assume because your spouse's snoring doesn't bother you at home in your nice warm bed that it won't bother you in a cold tent on a deflating mattress.


• If you have a child that gets car sick, Don't forget to hand her to your husband at your first pit stop on the way home. (This was the one thing I did right! - Finally Seth got to experience being puked on.)

On the plus side of things we did go kayaking on this absolutely beautiful little lake and the girls had a blast getting filthy dirty. Camping can be fun but 30 degrees was a little chilly for us.

McKay got so bored she finally just decided to go to sleep.

Despite the life jacket, she actually really enjoyed the kayaking.
